- My fees depend on the type of matter, complexity, forum (Rawalpindi, Islamabad, High Court, etc.), seniority of counsel and number of appearances required. For civil suits, family cases and criminal defence, I usually charge on a fixed, stage‑wise or per‑appearance basis, which is discussed and confirmed at the first meeting. Small and medium matters (e.g., legal notices, simple agreements, uncontested family cases) are generally charged at lower, fixed fees; contested and high‑value litigation is charged at higher, stage‑wise or value‑based fees. Court fees, stamp duties, process fees, travel and out‑of‑pocket expenses are not included in my professional fee unless expressly stated in the engagement letter. I also handle selected pro‑bono and legal‑aid matters for under‑privileged clients, subject to case merit and availability.

- I delivered a speech on the intersection of human rights and criminal law in cases of forced (enforced) disappearance. I explained the international legal definition of enforced disappearance, State obligations under the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, and the continuing human‑rights concerns in Pakistan regarding missing persons. I highlighted the absence of a dedicated domestic statute criminalising enforced disappearance in line with international standards and discussed key reforms, including clear criminalisation, command responsibility, judicial oversight of detention, and effective remedies and reparations for victims.

- I addressed the critical intersection of human rights and criminal law in cases of forced (enforced) disappearance. I explained how enforced disappearance constitutes a grave, continuing violation of international human rights law and, when widespread or systematic, may amount to a crime against humanity. I outlined the core legal elements of enforced disappearance: (i) deprivation of liberty by State agents or persons acting with State authority or acquiescence; (ii) refusal to acknowledge the detention or concealment of the person’s fate or whereabouts; and (iii) removal of the individual from the protection of the law. I analysed State obligations under international instruments, particularly the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, including duties to prevent disappearances, conduct prompt and independent investigations, prosecute those responsible, and ensure victims’ rights to truth, justice, and reparation. In the context of Pakistan, I highlighted persistent concerns over missing persons, the absence of a dedicated domestic statute criminalising enforced disappearance in line with international standards, and ongoing calls for ratification of the UN Convention and enactment of a standalone law. I concluded by emphasising key reforms: clear criminalisation of enforced disappearance as an autonomous offence; command responsibility for superiors; protection for families, lawyers, and human‑rights defenders; judicial oversight of detention; and effective remedies and reparations for victims
- How much will my case cost, how long will it take, and what are my chances of success?
- The cost, duration and chances of success depend on the nature of your case (civil, criminal, family, corporate or IP), its complexity, the forum (Rawalpindi, Islamabad, High Court, etc.) and whether the matter is contested or can be resolved early through settlement or ADR. For most matters, I provide a clear fee estimate after reviewing your documents and facts, usually on a fixed, stage‑wise or per‑appearance basis; in suitable civil recovery cases I may also offer a contingent (success‑based) fee where my charge is an agreed percentage of the amount recovered. Timelines vary: some matters (notices, uncontested family or simple civil applications) may resolve in weeks or a few months, while contested suits, appeals or complex criminal cases can take*to several years depending on court schedules and opposing parties. No ethical lawyer can guarantee a specific outcome, but I will give you an honest assessment of strengths, risks and likely scenarios based on law, evidence and similar precedents, and I will keep you updated at every stage so you can make informed decisions.
